Basic Operations with MYOB

This course is ideal for people running a small business but is suitable for anyone wanting to take control of their financial affairs.
Course Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:

- create a new company file in MYOB
- create a chart of accounts for a new company file
- enter historical balances into a new company data file
- make changes to customer and supplier details in the Card File
- set up the inventory features in MYOB
- purchase items for a business in MYOB
- make payments in MYOB for purchases that have been made
- enter sales transactions into MYOB and create invoices
- produce more complex invoices
- apply customer payments to open invoices
- work with the inventory that has been setup in MYOB
- use MYOB’s cheque facility for making purchases
- reconcile MYOB against company bank statements
- work with the reporting system in MYOB
- understand how MYOB is setup and works with the GST

Before the course
This course is designed for participants with little or no knowledge of MYOB. It is recommended that students have basic experience with the underlying operating system i.e. an ability to navigate the Windows environment using a mouse and keyboard and some basic knowledge of file management in a computer environment.
A bookkeeping background is not a necessity but an advantage. Any relevant bookkeeping concepts will be discussed throughout the course.

Other Information
Secure Parking is available through the RPAH Medical Centre located on the corner of Missenden Road and Carillon Avenue (entry to the car park is via Elizabeth Street, off Carillion Avenue). Parking is available on weekdays only between the hours of 7:00AM – 7:00PM at a rate of $38/day or $9/day after validating your ticket at CCE’s reception. All CCE participants who validate their tickets at reception are required to park their vehicles on Level B3. If the validated ticket does not register in the car park’s ticketing machine, cancel the transaction then reinsert your ticket into the ticketing machine until the $9 fee appears.
